Spend a Day at the Lovango Resort & Beach Club
Living on an island means being outdoors and exploring nearby islands. One being Lovango Cay. A private island 10 minutes from St.Thomas and St. John US Virgin Islands. Making a day trip to a private island for dining takes your Caribbean experience to a whole other level. At the Lovango Resort & Beach Club you can spend the day lounging on white cabanas & an infinity pool. Grab some lunch at their beautiful outdoor deck with the luxurious views of St. John and other nearby islands. Or, take a stroll through their little market shop. Guaranteed to have something for the whole family.
The Beach Club is filled with activities, and if lounging is your favorite activity, I highly suggest booking one of their cabanas with infinity pool access right at your feet. They also have beachfront lounge chairs, & hammocks. We enjoyed a game of chess with their life-sized board game cause who hasn’t watched Queen’s Gambit on Netflix?. If chess isn’t your thing, then corn-hole it is, and many other games for the whole family.
A friend of mine that works for the University of the Virgin Islands, mentioned to me that she will be helping restore the natural coral reef. That is something I’m excited to go back and explore. If you are the more adventurous ones, take a hike (literally) or snorkel and see how many fish you can spot. It’s a secluded adventure and I promise you will feel like no one else is there.
Before or after your adventures, grab some lunch at their waterfront restaurant. My favorite is getting a table right in front by the dock where I can watch the pelicans dive into the water while I enjoy a cocktail and a great lunch with beautiful views. Then right before we head home to St Thomas, I take a walk through their ever so cute outdoor market. You feel like your’e hitting up the shops with girlfriends. I know I always find something cute to purchase, such as a tumbler or rashguard to add to my collection of many.
Lovango Resort & Beach Club makes it super easy to get there by ferry from either St. Thomas or St.John. The ferry runs 7 days a week which is ideal for any day you decide to go. Check out their schedule here.
My boyfriend and I normally sail a small private boat that we rent from the Sailing Center in St Thomas. There are public & private mooring balls so make sure you reserve a ball. But don’t worry, if you don’t have access to a private boat, then you can charter a boat through some of my favorite day charters such as Sonic Charters or Bluebay Charter Company. They will be more than happy to add Lovango as a stop to your day on the water.
Lovango is a beautiful island because it has been sparsely inhabited for years. So having the opportunity to visit it is an opportunity not taken for granted. You should definitely add a day reservation the next time you visit because it will be the easiest & affordable luxurious feeling you experience. I know I do.
